It was a long cherished dream of the people of New Thippasandra and surrounding to have an Ayyappan temple, efforts being made in this direction and a Bhajana Mandapam on a rental basis was arranged in the year 1975. The Bhajana Mandapam was functioning only for 41 days during which Sabarimala pilgrimage was proceeded from this Bhajana Mandapam during mandala makara vilakku season. In continuation to this a Bhajana Sangam was formed and registered in the year 1977 in the name of Sri Ayyappa Seva Samithi. The Samithi decided to go for its own place and with the blessing of Lord Ayyappa it became a reality and it continued to functioning on all Saturdays and mandala makara vilakku season with annual utsavam ranging from one week to ten days with various cultural programmes.

In the year 1997 June 15th ( Attam ) the idol installation took place under the guidance of Thazhmon Madom Brahmasri Kantararu Rajeevaru, the hereditary highest priest [Thantri] of Sabarimala. The sanctum sanctorum of Sri Ayyappan and upadevathas Sri Ganapathi & Sri Devi was designed by Kanipayyur Krishnan Namboodiri. The idol was made by famous sculptor Sri Rajarathnam which is made of panchaloham.

In the year 2007-08 a dream project was undertaken for construction of Nadapandal & Gopuram, work is in progress after the completion of this unique 3 [three] tier gopuram it shall be tallest among all Ayyappan temples of Karnataka. Which is designed by Sreepadam Krishnakumar
